This coffee is the result of a budding movement in Caicedo, where a group of young producers began their journey into specialty coffee just five years ago. It all started when Danilo Flórez, a producer Unblended closely works with, generously shared Chiroso seeds with them—an invitation to explore differentiated varieties and the world of specialty coffee. With the mentorship of Elkin Diosa, they began learning about processing, and this lot marks one of their very first harvests. It’s a washed coffee, fermented in cherry for 48 hours. The result is a sweet and floral cup with subtle tropical fruit notes, beautifully balanced by a smooth caramel sweetness.
About the Young Producer Program
The Young Producer Program is not just about supporting the youth; it’s about highlighting those who have made a deliberate choice about their lives. They have chosen passion over other options. In this Community Lot, we aim to share our mission and recruit new members to the program. By doing so, we continue to learn about other origins, stories, and challenges faced by coffee producers. The program is a blend of small producers contributing to a larger lot to guarantee quality, year-round availability, and a consistent profile.
